This is the story board I made for our group. It underlines most of the shots that were going to do in the actual music video along with angles, movement, composition, plot and etc

SCENE 1 / 0s - 12s

Opening Sequence

Establishing Shot Night Time , Starry Sky Background The word ‘Ghost Town’ Would appear Cam would be handicam / shaky.

Following the Lyrics, I’d show the Star filled sky. The Handicam or Shaky camera + Filters I hope would match the nostalgic feeling that the first 12s of the song would have. This is to set the mood of the audience.

Lyrics :

“Some day, some day

Some day I'll, I wanna wear a starry crown”

SCENE 2 / 13s - 35s

Beach Scenes & Nostalgic Scenes

Long Shots ,Quick cuts on the beach and Hanging out with Friends. Done in a handycam style with a Bright Sky, ‘Hopeful Feeling’, Sunrise ( if possible ).

Initial Plan→ Due to the fact that the lyrics ‘Someday’ indicate hope the long shots will be given a dreamy/dreary effect or shot on a blurry phone shot as if it is still a concept, maybe make it shaky.

Lyrics:

“Some day I wanna lay down, like God did, on Sunday

Hold up, hold up

Some days, some days

I remember this on Sunday

Back way, yeah way, way

Some day, mmm, mmm

SCENE 3 / 35s - 59s

Introduction of the Main Character

This is done in a higher resolution Camera with higher quality. Locations : Mainly Football locations ( Football field ) and maybe His house. With Him doing various activities. Make it obvious he’s a footballer. ( His home ) is a location too.

I want to introduce to the audience the main character here. Who in our music video would likely to be a High School / College student. While it's only the introduction, I want to show the audience that He’s just like any typical person or ( soccer player ) though, He’s nothing special, Just a normal guy. But he’s definitely working hard.

Lyrics:

“Some day, I wanna tell everybody, some days

I wanna hit the red dot, I'll never find

Some days, some

Each one, knowing how 'm livin', smokin' marijuana

Now I'm livin' high, doin' what I wanna, some days”

SCENE 4 / 59 - 1:20s

Sad breakdown’ / ‘Breakup Scene’

Likely, Done in Higher resolution camera. Location should be in the bedroom or living space

,The tone should be a darker and sad to fit in the mood. ( but not full on night time ).Camera Shouldn’t be much camera movement or none at all. The breakup would be done through text, With camera showing the message. With background

As the lyrics say, This is the part of the song where desperation and hopelessness sinks in. No matter how hard he tries, he just fails to succeed. This is the start of His downfall, In from this point on he struggles to get a hold of himself.

Lyrics:

I've been tryin' to make you love me

But everything I try just takes you further from me

SCENE 5 / 1:20 - 2:09s

‘Coping Scenes’

Shot with mix of the previous Handicam style and Higher quality one. Could be shot in quick and slower pace. The tone would be brighter and the mood is fun. ( Hangout with friends, Going to Church ) But the MC still remains conflicted and hung up ( Maybe show some scenes where he’s isolated from the rest ). The Doorway / corridor scene should be shot with a static camera in the same position ALWAYS, The positions of items on this scene should also change as it jump cuts to show meaning.

In this scene, the MC is trying to move on but fails. His recent breakup and all the other problems has put him over the edge and while he tried to move on, by the end of it, He’s given up.

‘Get this off’ , ‘drama’ll be gone’ , ‘This is not what we had in mind’. All these lyrics are signs of coping or trying to move on.

Lyrics:

Some day we gon' set it off

Some day we gon' get this off

Baby, don't you bet it all

On a pack of Fentanyl

You might think they wrote you off

They gon' have to rope me off

Some day the drama'll be gone

And they'll pray, it's not enough

Sometimes I take all the shine

Talk like I drank all the wine

Years ahead but way behind

I'm on one, two, three, four, five

No half-truths, just naked minds

Caught between space and time

This not what we had in mind

But maybe some day

SCENE 6 / 2:09 - 2:31s

‘Desperation’ & ‘Helplessness’

Shot in higher resolution, With slower shots to create a more emotional meaning. The tone should be dark ( darkest in the entire music video ). We should add signifiers to show desperation in a dire situation. We would use medicine and make it seem as ‘drugs’ where the MC would drink at the very end of the scene ( we don't have to show him drinking it ). Lots of emotion has to be present, to show meaning. ( Close ups ) Location: Bathroom? , Isolated place, The corridor from the previous shot.

The climax of the entire music video, everything before led up to this point. It's also the most darkest and saddest part of the entire music video as the MC had given up all hope and delves into drugs. Emotions would play a huge role, the MC has to be shown feeling numb.

Lyrics:

I've been tryin' to make you love me

But everything I try just takes you further from me

SCENE 7 / 2:31 - 2:54s

‘Chaotic Scenes’ & ‘Wrecking everything’

Camera shots should be Mixed and the Pace of the shots would be all over the place fast paced. Various lighting sets. ‘Aggressive’. Tone should be dark and Bright at the same time. This is signify The feeling of chaoticness.

Location might be his home ( Bedroom ), random places or abandoned locations. ( He breaks things like throws stuff around ). His emotions is running wild / crazy this is shown both emotionally and physically.

This is where He is mad that The drugs didn't kill him outright. He starts messing his place apart trying to release that pent up anger. But by the end of it, He realized that instead of making things better, It just made t worse. He regretted it.

‘ I am a child ‘ , ‘ I let it all go ‘, We could reference this as that as either the things He did was stupid like what a kid would do or he feels like a child, he is being able to do anything without any rules like going completely crazy.

Lyrics:

Oh, once again I am a child

I let it all go (go), of everything that I know, yeah

Of everything that I know, yeah

And nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free

SCENE 8 / 2:54 - 3:40s

‘Realization’ phase

Camera shots would be mixed and would be done with in a slow pace as the song slows down significantly. Cinematic Style of shooting would be used, With the primary subject being the surroundings.( Maybe so High angles on the MC ).The after damage from the previous scene would be shown ( in a slow way ). Emotions show how He regrets it. ‘The person he’d become’. Location might be the places he destroyed or His home.

This is where the MC realizes that what he did was wrong and By taking drugs it didn’t make things better, but instead worse. The messed up room, Bag on the floor with his belongings shows that.

The regret of what He did now shows, Where he feels like He shouldn't have never taken those drugs. Going to Church would be a sign of repentance, trying to change into a better person.

Lyrics :

And nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free

We're still the kids we used to be, yeah, yeah

I put my hand on the stove, to see if I still bleed

Yeah, and nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free

We're still the kids we used to be, yeah, yeah

I put my hand on the stove, to see if I still bleed

Yeah, and nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free

SCENE 9 / 3:40 - 4:03s

Recovering Phase

This is shot in a Mixed way, With a variety of angles and lighting. Though the tone should be brighter than before. Let’s try to have ‘Nostalgic’ feel for the music video.  The main focus in the MC trying to heal himself. With wholesome moments with friends. Location - Beach, Store fronts, Malls, Cafes, Hotels, Football field.

This scene starts off with a goal being put and a cut showing our MC. This is done to show that the MC is back to His hobbies, doing the things that He loves and is finally accepting his new equilibrium. He's also shown to be a lot more open and happy with His friends trying His best to enjoy spending time with them.

‘Were still the kids we used to be’ might be referenced as being together with you friends again. Because no matter how much you change, Were still together.

Lyrics :

We're still the kids we used to be, yeah, yeah

I put my hand on the stove, to see if I still bleed

Yeah, and nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free

SCENE 10 / 4:03 - 4:31s

‘Ending Sequence’ and ‘ A New Equilibrium’

Shot with a mix of High and Handicam footage with a major emphasis on the Handicam.  Scene should be slowed and added with nostalgic filters. We might even do it in Slow Motion. Add environmental noises to the track like, Birds chirping, wind ( sounds of nature. ) - All sounds must be original. Add a scene where He buries the drug? Or maybe sit down with His fiends in the Sunset or rise.

The Emphasis here is the nostalgic and the feeling of hope. We need to add a lot of connotations for that. At this point in time, The MC has completely moved on and is a changed person.

‘Nothing hurts anymore’ , ‘I Feel kind free’ While this lyric is repeated multiple times, It could be like He’s trying to repeat it to himself over and over again until he finally believes on it.

The music video started on a dark starry night and ended in a Bright Horizon.

Location - Beach

Lyrics:

We're still the kids we used to be, yeah, yeah

I put my hand on the stove, to see if I still bleed

Yeah, and nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free
