Extra Chewing gum advert
Extra is a chewing gum company that sells the world first sugar free gum that has a long and ever lasting flavour, the advert came out around 23rd November 2021 so it is pretty recent and it portrays itself as a 60s holiday special.
Media language
The Advert takes place in a 1960s styled household filled with mixed ethnicities the melody likes to jingle which indicates that it is a Christmas night. there is a bunch of stereotypes such as the annoying uncle, the social media teen, the single boy and so on. the over all vibes is that it is a jolly and slightly awkward Christmas night. Another thing seen there is the green color used on the gum wrapper which would indicate the one color of Christmas which is green or to represent the freshness of the extra. The gum also helps them to left things unsaid so that they can make the family dinner less awkward which would tell the viewer that the gum helps you to not say anything during a really awkward moment.
Representation
The advert shows a mixed family of White, Asian, Black, Indian and (possibly) Hispanic, this is to possibly appeal more to people with similar races so they are more likely to buy the product or to help the viewers with mixed family connect more with the advert.
The annoying uncle is the type of guy that likes to yap on and on about things that no one likes or is interested in and people view him as annoying you can see this on clip 0:22 where he would continuously annoy his nephew and niece, another stereotype there is the anxious guy which is the type of guy that is anxious about anything even though it looks harmless this guy can be found on clip 0:28 where he is shown to look at some very creepy looking dolls, and finally the social media boy which is basically a boy that likes to get a lot of attention from social media but he does some pretty questionable things doing it he can be found in clip 0:42 where he can be found by (possibly) his aunt in the bathroom shirtless with a Santa hat on.
Audience
The advert was directed to people that lives in a house with a mixed family or people of difference ethnicities because there are a lot of ethnicities in the advert which would be very appealing to those people, since the advert have different types of ethnicities more types of people can better connect with the advert.
Industry
is states that "Thankfully, your Extra Gum will save you from an outburst when you open up that new copy of "Don't Worry! You'll Find Love." Extra invites you to chew it before you do it." which indicates that they are indeed selling this book along with the gum.
