Media regulation 230
On of the big names in the social media world is YouTube, an it has been around since 2005, which means that they have a lot of time to write their rules and regulation they mostly try to develop a bot to do the regulation for them as they do not have the time or people to go and inspect every single video on the platform so instead of that they have a bot that would filter out the more sensitive videos from the normal ones so that they are easier to manage.
But the bot isn't perfect and can lead to misunderstanding when it comes to regulating videos
YouTube has regulation, with a few of them being their Suicide and harm policies where it states that "we do not allow content on YouTube that promotes suicide, self-harm, that is intended to shock or disgust, or poses a considerable risk to viewers." in addition to that their is also their policy about violence and graphic content where violence (especially with minors) and graphic imagery such as dead bodies cannot be allowed to be posted on YouTube.
Now around the 1st of January 2018 Logan Paul posted a video on YouTube in where he visited the famous Japanese suicide forest for a vlog of some sort, in said video he was making fun of suicide and somewhat promoting it, to add some fuel to the fire you can clearly see a dead body in the background of the image that I provided. Cleary neither YouTube nor their community took this well and forcefully asked him to take the video down, in addition to this he has also received a lot of backlash from other social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. and has been cancelled on multiple occasions until he madee his apology video 2 days later.
