Disney's media regulation (Self betterment) (Pinocchio)
Question:
Analyze the way contemporary media regulation is affected by it's period
Media regulation has changed by a lot since the 1940s mostly due to society and it's so ever changing values on what is allowed to shown and what is not. A prime example of this can be seen when comparing the old classic Pinocchio movie made by Disney back in the 1940s with the new real life adaption released in 2022. Since the last 82 years media regulation has changed a lot for starters they much stricter now then they were before and a lot of things has been deemed much more offensive now then it was almost a century ago, these rules can be seen applied in the Pinocchio movie and especially in the "fun land donkey transformation scene" back in the 1940s adaptation there was beer and it was being drank by children which was pretty minor back then but now due to alcohol being a bad influence especially towards children Disney opted to change it into root beer instead in the new 2022 adaptation as and I quote "In a way, this isn't just going around the censors, but using a little known fact to their advantage." in addition to that the cigars in the original 1940 version of that scene was completely removed in the new 2022 adaptation due to the new Disney smoking policy which states that "Movies released by Disney after the year 2015 will not have any smoking in it unless it is used for historical accuracy for a character they are portraying" which is a safer move on Disney's behalf.
